Going Out
Sitting naked at the mirror
you turn to me with almost a tear
saying: I've nothing to wear,
your body dressed in hair
and the rings I gave you.

Comments from other poets
I love the water imagery that flows through everything, the sadness that sometimes
seeps in, and the unerring sense of music. These are very fine poems.
Lorna Crozier, Chair of the Writing Department, University of Victoria
These paintings open the doors to the mysteries of these lovely, sensual poems. They
have produced a book of memory and dream. David Ladmore's paintings walk hand in
hand with these poems.
Wendy Morton, holder of Spirit Bear and Honourary Citizen of Victoria
awards
...absolutely ravishing poems and some stunning visuals.
Michael Dennis Browne, Professor of Creative Writing, University of Minnesota
Gerard Rochford's previous publications include Failing Light a limited
edition, handcrafted book from Embers Handpress (2011), and Eating Eggs with Strangers,
The Holy Family and Other Poems, and Figures of Stone (all Koo Press).
He is included in Janice Galloway's selection of Best 20 Scottish Poems of 2006,
for the Scottish Poetry Library. A featured poet on Poets Against the War,
he is currently Makar for the online political and cultural affairs magazine Scottish
Review.
